AS the weather turns autumnal, the golfers of the Lords Golf and Country Club (Rayleigh) start to complete their annual competitions.

John Swarbrick (34) won the senior championship with a total of 107 after 27 holes ahead of Jim Prentice (36), who had 108.

Taking the summer doubles title was the partnership of Tracy Sutton and Verena Algar, who beat Georgina Jupp and Debbie Suttie.

On the Earls course, Ruth Humphreys won the Ladies’ Championship for the eighth time with a score of 147 over 27 holes to beat Maisie Colman (150), but it was the reverse in the Handicap Bowl when Maisie took the title from Ruth.

Taking the summer singles title was Joan Gardiner who beat Pat Kurn.

On the domestic front the ladies of the Duke course held their autumn meeting competition, which saw Lucy Hensby beat Jeanette Hughes when she came in with 40 points to Hughes’ 37 points.

In the Jack Clarke single stableford competition for Saturday Peter Paige (9) beat Matthew South (11) on countback when both returned a score of 40 points.

Don Oakley (8) finished third with 38 points.

Lucy Hensby (36) was once again in form on Sunday taking the prize with a score of 44 points ahead of Luke Kreyling (26) and Stephen Kirby (15), who had 40 and 38 points respectively.
