SOUTHEND United manager Paul Sturrock has hinted he could be about to swoop for Liverpool striker Jason Banton on loan.

As was exclusively revealed in yesterday’s Echosport, the 18-year-old will again train with Blues today.

And Sturrock confirmed he has been impressed by his skills.

“Jason has come in and he certainly looked lively in training on Tuesday,” said Sturrock.

“He came to us after a discussion with an agent he shares with some other players here and we obviously saw him when he played against us in the FA Youth Cup as well.

“He will be back in today and he plays in a position we’re looking to strengthen so we will decide what we want to do and ahead of Saturday’s game at Morecambe as well.”
