CHILDREN from Chalkwell Hall Junior School are enjoying their best kwik cricket season yet — and the best is yet to come.

The team will be playing at Lord's during the interval of the England versus India one-day international on Sunday, September 11.

Cricketers from the school in London Road, Leigh, progressed to the home of cricket after winning a competition sponsored by Asda.

“After finishing third in last season’s borough tournament the team were even hungrier for success this year,” said Year 6 leader and kwik cricket manager Kevin Harvey.

They won their group and then defeated Southend’s Earls Hall school in the quarter-finals.

That set up a semi-final clash with Leigh North Street which went in Chalkwell's favour courtesy of wickets taken.

Chalkwell faced Thorpe Bay's Alleyn Court in the final and overcame the defending champions to secure the borough crown, before representing Southend borough at the Essex finals.
