WEST Leigh Primary School finished as runners-up in a national tag rugby tournament — but they will not have long to wait to avenge their defeat.
Pupils from the junior school lost out to Stanley Junior School from Teddington, Middlesex, in the final of the RFU YAZOO National Tag 2 Twickenham event at Rugby School, the birthplace of rugby.
But they will get the chance for revenge when the two schools lock horns again at half-time during the England versus Wales friendly at Twickenham on August 6.
West Leigh were one of 20 teams from England who battled it out at the culmination of the competition, which is designed to encourage children to play sport and be healthy, and rewards the top two teams with a chance to play at Twickenham, west London.
