SOUTHEND United have completed the transfers of right-back Ryan Leonard and striker Liam Dickinson.

The duo have joined Blues on one year deals.

And manager Paul Sturrock is pleased to have brought them to the club.

"Ryan is someone I know well and he's been excellent during pre-season on trial with us," said Sturrock.

"He will challenge Sean Clohessy for a place in the team and I'm delighted to have brought Liam in too.

"I think people know we have been a striker light and he had a good goalscoring record in this division a few seasons ago with Stockport County.

"He's been a bit nomadic since then but we feel he has the attributes to be a success here."

Blues also remain in talks with midfielder Jean-Paul Kalala and hope to soon complete a deal for the tough tackler.
