FOOTBALL is all about results and we’ve had two good wins over Oxford since my last column.

If I’m being honest I wasn’t really happy with either of the performances.

But we got the victories and that’s all that matters. We will be chasing something similar in the FA Cup at Preston North End this weekend but it goes without saying that it will be a very hard game.

They’re in a league above us so we’re obviously underdogs but, at the same time, we want to keep this run we’re on going for as long as we can and hope to cause an upset.

It would also be nice to able to make at least the third round of this competition because that’s when things really start to get interesting.

I would love us to be able to play against a team like Manchester United, Arsenal, Newcastle or Spurs because that would be of huge financial benefit to the football club.

But there’s a long way to go before we can even start to contemplate anything like that as Preston are a strong side who will make things exceptionally tough for us.

It’s good that we’ve been able to extend Luke Daniels’ loan spell and that he can play in goal tomorrow but it’s disappointing to be without Anthony Grant.

He will now serve a three-match suspension after being sent off at Oxford on Tuesday night and he has apologised for what he did.

Me and him had a chat about what happened and I really wasn’t very happy about the incident.

Anthony was dismissed along with one of their players and, with their goalkeeper also been shown a red card early on, the whole game was a shambles.

I was disappointed by how we played and it was a similar story in the game before that, which was also against Oxford, in the league.

Oxford played very well in the first half that day and we had to dig deep to beat them.

We really had to churn the result out but it was pleasing we were able to do that.
