WE’RE up against Crewe Alexandra at Roots Hall tomorrow and it’s time for us to sort out our home form.

I think we’ve got one victory from our last eight games there so we need to improve.

But it’s a two way thing, because it also involves the supporters.

The Rotherham manager Andy Scott said he couldn’t believe the criticism he heard our players getting in the game last Friday.

However, I’m fully aware that what we served up that night wasn’t good enough.

All I would ask is that in the future the fans get right behind the team, even if they don’t like the football we’re playing, and then vent their frustrations, if they have any, at the end of the game.

Right now I think some players self consciously go in to their shells after they’ve heard abuse and don’t move or shout for the ball like they should do.

The fans really do have a part to play because they can definitely make a difference.

We all want the same thing, which is promotion, and with only eight or nine home games left it’s vitally important we pick up points at Roots Hall.

But, for that to happen I’m fully aware that we must start to play better.

Crewe will also be dangerous opposition for us I’ve seen them play live a couple of times in the last few weeks and they have some really good footballers.

They’ve already won at places like Cheltenham and Oxford this season and they spanked us here last season so we know we will have to play well to beat them.

We’re going in to the game in good spirits though after winning at Gillingham on Monday night.

I think the players were shocked by the reaction of the fans and myself to the Rotherham defeat and they responded in the right way.

For the first hour of the game I thought we were excellent but then because of the way we were playing I think we started to tire.

Looking back at it now, I think I should maybe have freshened things up sooner.

But we all learn from our mistakes.

I went back to the system of playing Kane Ferdinand in just behind Liam Dickinson in attack against Gillingham and I am now mulling over whether or not that formation would benefit us at Roots Hall.

There’s plenty of other things to be thinking about but it getting really close up towards the top of the table now.

The top three teams have the same number of points and some sides do still have games in hand on us.

A lot of the top teams still have to play each other and I’m just focusing purely on what we do.

There’s no point in worrying about other sides and what they may or may not do because we can have no control over that.

All we can do is get ourselves right and we want and need a win tomorrow.
