SOUTHEND United manager Paul Sturrock could be forced to field a heavily changed starting line-up at Burton Albion on Saturday.

The Blues boss is considering leaving out Ryan Hall and Liam Dickinson after they — along with Kane Ferdinand — breached the club’s code of conduct in the team hotel the night before last weekend’s 1-0 defeat at Morecambe.

And Bilel Mohsni’s future also remains unclear after he stormed out of the dressing room at the weekend and returned to Southend on the train.

On top of that, midfielder Jean-Paul Kalala is struggling to be fit with an ankle injury. But Sturrock has yet to be make up his mind what to do.

“Paul is mulling things over but could definitely leave all three of the players who are facing an internal investigation out of the game at Burton,” said a source close to the club.

“He hasn’t made up his mind completely yet and he’s undecided on whether to play any of them because injuries may yet affect the situation.”

Hall and Dickinson are Blues’ top two goalscorers this season and they both started the match at Morecambe last Saturday.

Ferdinand was an unused substitute, but Sturrock must again also decide whether or not to select Mohsni.

The club continue to remain tight-lipped about the Frenchman’s future and will issue a statement about him later this week.

The troubles could lead to recalls for Anthony Grant and David Martin while Elliot Benyon or Neil Harris, if he recovers from a dead leg, could come in for Dickinson.

However, Sturrock remains short of other midfielders with Ryan Leonard injured and Lee Sawyer short of match fitness and that could yet lead to a reprieve for Ferdinand.

Hall and Dickinson were named among the substitutes for last night’s friendly at Braintree Town, with Ferdinand handed a start against the Iron.
