LEOPARDS coach Dejan Mihevc was pleased with how his injury-hit side rolled to their eighth straight league win, defeating Bradford Dragons 82-66 on Sunday.

Leopards were without Joe Lockwood, John Lister and Lukas Volskis for the clash at the Basildon Sporting Village.

And Mihevc was therefore thrilled to record another fine victory that left his side fifth in the English Basketball League.

“Right now we are struggling with some injuries and I was not sure what to expect because our rotations changed quite a lot, so I am very pleased how our team responded,” Mihevc said.

“In first half we were still looking for our rhythm and how to break their match-up zone. But in the second half we started with a high rhythm and were able to break them down in the final minutes of third quarter.”

That enabled Leopards to turn on the style in the final period with two massive Ousman Krubally dunks from Vernon Teel assists.

And Mihevc admitted it was fun to watch.

“I must say that I really enjoyed it the last quarter at the game because we played attractive basketball,” said Mihevc.

“We were very good as a team and all the players deserve special regards and congratulations.”

Leopards are back in action this weekend when they travel to Bristol Academy Flyers on Saturday before hosting Medway Park Crusaders at the Brentwood Centre on Sunday, tip off 4pm.
