SOUTHEND United goalkeeper Glenn Morris is struggling to be fit for Saturday’s game at Burton Albion.

The shot-stopper picked up a thigh problem during last weekend’s 1-0 defeat at Morecambe.

And boss Paul Sturrock is not sure if Morris will recover in time to remain between the sticks against the Brewers.

“Glenn is struggling at the moment and we don’t know if he will be fit,” said Sturrock.

“We’re going to have to see how he is but right now he is definitely doubtful.”

If Morris does fail to recover in time then Sturrock is likely to delve in to the transfer market to bring in a replacement on loan.

His only other available option right now is 18-year-old Daniel Bentley, who it is felt is not quite ready to start a first team fixture.

Morris also suffered a thigh problem during the 4-1 victory over Torquay United in October and his place in goal was taken by Luke Daniels who was brought in on loan from West Bromwich Albion.

However, Daniels went back to the Hawthorns in January to allow Morris to return to action.
