SOUTHEND United have extended Jack Sampson's loan spell for a further month.

The striker, who is with Blues from Bolton Wanderers, has not scored in eight games.

But boss Paul Sturrock is pleased to have kept the 18-year-old for longer.

“We've arranged to keep Jack for another month and that's good news for us,” said Sturrock.

“He gives us a different option up front but there's still plenty to work on with him.”

However, Sampson limped off with a groin problem during the 2-2 draw with Accrington on Saturday while centre-back Mark Phillips also fears he may have broken his hand.
