THE fat lady has still not sung so we do still have a slight chance of securing automatic promotion.

But, being realistic, I think she may be breaking in to voice this weekend.

To keep alive the opportunity of a top three finish we have to hope Hereford do us a favour at Crawley, that Crewe do likewise at Torquay and that we also go to Oxford and win which will be extremely difficult.

Oxford are a strong side and they played very well at our place earlier on in the season.

I felt we were fortunate to win that day and a point would actually have been a fairer result.

Since then they’ve stayed in the race for promotion but they’ve had a few draws just recently and that has seen them fall out of the play-offs.

As a result, they will be fired up to beat us and I’m sure there will be a big crowd too so it has all the makings of a good game.

We do still have the safety net of the play-offs if we miss out on the top three and it was nice to make to guarantee that with a 3-0 win over Barnet last Friday.

We played very well in the first half and Bilel Mohsni popped up to score a hat-trick.

I do still consider his best position to be centre-back and you can see that when he comes back and rises head and shoulders above everyone else to clear corners and free-kicks.

But, above all else, he’s a footballer and can play pretty much wherever you put him.

He is also a goalscoring threat and we saw that again against Barnet as he took his goals well.

I also saw this week that he managed a side a charity match but I don’t think he will be going in to that when he finishes playing.

And if he does then I don’t think I’d like to be in his squad!

Everyone knows that Bilel did very close to leaving us earlier on in the season after what went on.

However, I grabbed the bull by the horns to bring him back in and he’s reacted very well since then.

His hat-trick made it three home wins in a row for us and I think we’re doing much better at Roots Hall again now.

The return of Freddy Eastwood has attracted a few more fans to the games and having the supporters back in the North Bank has really made a difference too.

There is a much better atmosphere now and we want that continue.

We also want the momentum we’ve generated to carry on and that’s why it’s important we put in another good performance tomorrow.

But then there could be a difficult balancing act coming up.

We want to keep our players in the grove and ready for the play-offs but we also want them to be feeling fresh and some of them do have niggling knocks.

Do I therefore decided to leave them out and play them in the two league games we have coming up?

It is a difficult situation which will be giving plenty of thought in the next couple of weeks but the good news is other players are starting to come back from being injured.

Anto Flood scored twice in a behind closed door friendly we had at the training ground this week against Dagenham and Christian Dailly should also be back for the play-offs.

Elliot Benyon is available too after completing a three match suspension and it will be good to have him back with us again.

He’s had a bit of a sickness bug in the last couple of days but he should be OK to travel and that’s good news because he was doing well before his sending off.

He was getting back to the form I always knew he was capable of producing and I’m actually very excited about Elliott because I’m sure he will a success for us while he’s here.

And hopefully he can chip in with some more goals in the games we have left this season.
