SOUTHEND United’s Ryan Hall was full of smiles after continuing his fine scoring sequence against Oxford United in Saturday’s 2-0 victory at the Kassam Stadium.

Hall blasted home a first half free-kick to make it four games in succession he had netted against the U’s.

And the winger was thrilled his latest effort also kept alive the possibility of automatic promotion for his side.

“Coming to Oxford was a big game for us and thankfully it went our way and so did the other results,” said Hall, 24.

“I’m not sure what it is about me and Oxford but I seem to always do well against them and I was really pleased to carry it on.

“I just concentrated on making sure I hit the target and then hitting it as hard as I could and luckily enough it went in.

“That set us on our way to get a good result and we worked hard to get the win which sets everything up really nicely for this Saturday’s game against Macclesfield.”

The Silkmen arrive at Roots Hall bottom of the table and having already been relegated.

But Hall, who will be making his 100th appearance in the game, is refusing to take anything for granted.

“We have to be ready for a hard game and will need to play like we did against Oxford if we are to win again,” said Hall.

“That’s all that we can do and then we just have to hope that other results go our way and that we can get automatic promotion.

“If we don’t it will be a real kick in the teeth but we do always have the play-offs to fall back on.”
