WE are going to have to deal with a great deal of pressure and expectation when we face Macclesfield Town this weekend.

People will look at the league table, see they have already been relegated and just presume we will win — but it won’t be as simple as that.

Macclesfield will want to sign off from the league with a good performance and their players will be wanting to impress, so we’re in for a very hard match.

It could also be quite tense but it’s exciting as well because we’ve given ourselves a chance of getting promotion.

We know that we’re underdogs as we’re still relying on two very good sides in Torquay and Crawley dropping points in their matches.

But they both have two quite tough away games, so you never know what could happen.

We just have to concentrate on winning though, because if we don’t do that then it doesn’t matter how our rivals get on.

If we do get the victory then we will end up on 83 points and that would be a fantastic achievement.

Our target was 80 points and promotion at the start of the season, so we’ve got one and now we want the other.

We have one last hurdle left to clear but whether that comes on Saturday or on May 27 in the play-offs we will have to wait and see.

We’re in good form at the moment though and we showed that again at the weekend by beating Oxford.

They had only lost three times at home all season and needed the points just as badly as we did to try and keep alive their push for the play-offs.

But we showed a fantastic attitude and desire to produce a terrific performance, which was a real credit to the whole squad.

That came after a slightly different build up to the game as Timmy Mallet popped into our dressing room to say hello.

A few of our staff members met Timmy at a hotel we stayed at for one of our games earlier on in the season and he mentioned then he was an Oxford fan.

He was therefore at the game on Saturday and decided to come and see us again, which was great.

It certainly took the edge off the dressing room for a little bit, but the scary thing for me was that some of the younger members of the squad didn’t have a clue who he was!

>Elliot Benyon proved his immense intelligence again this week when he tried to tell us all that Haggis was actually a fish that swam in the sea.

But it can’t beat his all time classic which followed the birth of his son Oliver earlier on in the season.

The lads were all congratulating Elliot when somebody asked him what the weight was to which he replied, 22 hours!

> I’d like to say a huge well done to Blues fans Bob Mays, Paul Redding, Paul Marshall, Simon Mayes, Trevor Bashford, Neil Bushfield, Sam Wilson, Derek Reeves and his son Joe Reeves for walking from Southend to Oxford to raise money for Help the Heroes.

It was a fantastic thing to do for a great charity and they deserve to be congratulated for their achievement and all the money they have raised.
