MICHAEL Timlin was left disappointed after failing to convert two late chances that came his way at Crewe Alexandra.
The Blues midfielder had a low shot blocked by the legs of Railwaymen goalkeeper Steve Phillips before he also failed to connect with a last gasp volley.
But Timlin remains certain more opportunities will come his side’s way in the second leg at Roots Hall on Wednesday as he feels Crewe showed defensive weaknesses late on.
“I should have done better with both of the chances we had but the good thing was we created opportunities and I’m sure we will again in the second leg,” said Timlin.
“The first chance I had I took a touch and then probably hit it too well. If I’d scuffed it either side of the keeper then it would have gone in.
‘For the second one I thought the ball was going to drop in front of me but then it slowed up and didn’t go where I expected.
“I know I should have made more of that chance but I think towards the end we showed that there is some vulnerability about Crewe at the back and we want to exploit that in the second leg.”
