MARK Phillips is a huge injury doubt for the second leg of Southend United’s play off clash with Crewe at Roots Hall on Wednesday.
Phillips, who was voted Blues’ player of the year, was forced to come off with a shoulder problem midway through the second half at Gresty Road.
And boss Paul Sturrock is not sure if the centre-back will be fit to face the Railwaymen at Roots Hall.
“We’re hoping Mark’s injury isn’t too serious but we’re not sure how bad it is just yet,” said Sturrock.
“He was in quite a lot of pain when it happened and we were originally going to take him off as soon as it happened.
“He wanted to carry on but when the lad went through in the second half we had to substitute him because he wasn’t defending properly.
