CHRIS Barker wants to clock up a century of Southend United appearances in style by beating Crewe Alexandra tonight.

The Blues skipper is in line to make his 100th appearance for the club.

And he would love to celebrate the landmark by leading the team to a memorable triumph.

“Winning the game and getting through to Wembley would be the perfect way to mark my 100th game,” said Barker, 32.

“Reaching landmarks like that are always nice achievements but it’s the success of the team which matters most and it’s all about getting through this second leg.

“This game will be bigger than any of the previous 99 and if we win then the final will be even bigger than this.

“But we can’t afford to get too far ahead of ourselves because Crewe are in pole position right now.”
