FREDDY Eastwood wants to send Southend United to Wembley by firing them to victory against Crewe Alexandra in the second leg of their play-off semi-final at Roots Hall tonight.

Blues go in to the game 1-0 down after suffering a narrow defeat at Gresty Road on Saturday.

But Eastwood is determined to overturn the narrow deficit.

And, in a further boost ahead of the big game, the popular on loan Coventry City striker has admitted he would be interested in sealing a permanent switch to Southend.

“This is a massive game tonight so I’m fully focused on doing well in it and making sure we get a good result but beyond that I certainly wouldn’t rule out staying with Southend,” said Eastwood, who will soon be available on a free transfer after Coventry confirmed he would be released from the Ricoh Arena.

“I have a great relationship with the fans and it’s local to where my family live which is good.

“I do want to play as high up as I can just like any footballer does and if we can get up in to League One then that would be even better.

“But it’s not just up to me what happens and right now all I’m thinking about is the match against Crewe and trying to make sure we get to Wembley.”
