BASILDON'S  Lukas Volskis cannot wait to get back in action for the Essex Leopards at the Sporting Village this weekend.

Leopards host the Medway Park Crusaders in Basildon on Sunday in the group stages of the National trophy.

And the 23-year-old is keen to get back on court.

“I love playing in Basildon because it’s literally just round the corner from where I live,” said Volskis.

“I’m really looking forward to this game and, without wanting to sound arrogant, I’m expecting a win to push us on for the rest of the season.”

Volskis and the new look Leopards are also in action tonight at the Brentwood Centre against the Brixton Topcats.

And Volkis feels the squad is in good shape to bounce back from their opening day defeat to the Tees Valley Mohawks. “We’ve been working very hard in training and during the pre-season games to improve each day and I think it’s coming along well,” said Volskis.

“I know both Brixton and Medway will give us tough games this weekend but it should not be anything we can’t handle.”

Sunday’s game tips off at 4pm.

Admission prices have been set at £6 for adults, £4 for juniors and £16 for a two adult, two junior family ticket.
