BRITT Assombalonga is in a rich vein of form for us at the moment and I really do think he’s someone who will go on and have a very bright future in the game.

When I was at Millwall I played against Jermain Defoe when he was on loan at Bournemouth and we also had Glen Johnson with us for a short spell from West Ham, and Britt has things in his game that reminds me of them both.

And whatever happens come January I think we should be grateful for having a player of his calibre with us.

As a fellow forward, he’s often asking me about thing and he’s always analysing his game and where he thinks he could do better.

He’s a great kid too and it was fantastic for him to get another two goals at Rotherham United on Saturday.

I was listening on the radio due to my knee injury but it sounded like we played very well and to win there like that is a top result.

It also sets us up nicely for the weekend when the team travel to Morecambe.

Ideally we’d prefer to be playing at home, but we know what to expect at the weekend.

Morecambe will be big and physical and we will have to roll our sleeves up and get stuck in.

Last season we didn’t do too well against them, but if we can get stuck in then hopefully the quality we have in attack can help us win the game.

Unfortunately, I won’t be making the trip but there is light at the end of the tunnel with my knee problem now.

I went to see a specialist last week and he confirmed there was a minor tear in my medial ligament but there was no damage to anything else.

I’ve since had an injection to help it along and, touch wood, I will be back in training next week.

It means I’m missing out on hearing the lads having to sing, but I’ve been told that Jack Paxman was one of the best to have been heard and Gavin Tomlin and Ryan Auger also did well, so that wouldn’t have been fun to listen to.

But Paul Smith refused to sing and he has now been given a fine which will go towards the fund for our Christmas party!

KICK 'EM OUT TO KICK IT OUT

IT was disgusting to see what happened at the end of England U21’s game in Serbia this week and I don’t think they should be allowed to get away with it.

In the past we’ve seen countries being fined a few thousand euros when these type of things have gone on, but that just isn’t good enough.

Something has to be done about it because fans shouldn’t be allowed to get on to the pitch and any kind of racism has no place in the game at all.

It’s horrible to think there are kids at home watching things like this happen and it’s time serious action was taken.

The same countries keep on getting away with these crimes and it’s time they were actually kicked out of competitions.

The senior England game was also a farce and it was very bizarre that the game was called off for a waterlogged pitch when there’s a roof on the stadium.

It was embarrassing seeing the ref out there rolling the ball on the pitch and it’s unfair on the fans who have travelled a long way in large numbers and many of them will not have seen the game.
