SOUTHEND United have signed Millwall defensive midfielder Tamika Mkandawire on loan until January.

The 29-year-old has yet to play a game this season and appeared just 15 times for the Lions in the previous campaign.

But Blues boss Paul Sturrock is pleased to have brought him in.

"Tamika is a quality player and I'm delighted everything has now been sorted for him to join us," said Sturrock.

However, Mkandawire will not be able to make his Southend debut against Stockport County in the FA Cup tomorrow as he has been denied permission to play from Millwall.
