SOUTHEND United have now sold 30,000 tickets for Sunday’s Johnstone’s Paint Trophy final against Crewe Alexandra at Wembley Stadium.

Blues’ fans now look set to outnumber the Railwaymen’s support by a 3:1 ratio.

And Shrimpers striker Barry Corr believes that will give the side a huge advantage.

“We’ve been kept up to date by the club about the ticket sales and to get to 30,000 is just unbelievable,” said Corr, 27.

“To have such a huge support like that behind us on the day will give us a massive advantage and hopefully it can help us out on the pitch.

“Crewe are a very good side and we’re in for a very difficult game against them.

“But hopefully having so many fans there on the day and the backing they will give us can give us an edge and help us with the game.”

Sunday’s game will be Blues’ first ever Wembley cup final and has generated huge excitement in the town.

Westcliff based Jodie Lock purchased the 30,000th ticket sold.

And she cannot wait to see Southend in action at the home of English football.

“I used to have a season ticket at the club and it’s going to be a fantastic day,” said the 40-year-old.

“There’s five of us all going together and we’re really looking forward to it.

“We worked out that about 20 per cent of Southend are going to be there on the day cheering the team on and we can’t wait to be a part of that.”

Blues have only ever played at Wembley once before in their entire 107 year history, losing 3-1 to Clapton Orient in the league.
