BLUES boss Phil Brown has not ruled out taking another look at Joshua Rees, despite deciding not to take the Hadleigh based midfielder to Madrid.

Rees scored for Southend in their 3-3 draw against Leyton Orient on Saturday.

And Brown was impressed by the former Southend High School pupil.

“Josh has good habits which you would expect from someone coming through the ranks at Arsenal,” said Brown. “He keeps the ball well and took his goal well too.

“We’re looking for a goal-scoring midfielder and I would definitely like to take a look at him in another behind-closed-doors friendly we have coming up.

“We’ve decided not to take him to Madrid and if he gets fixed up at another club then we will wish him all the very best. But if he doesn’t then I’d certainly be interested in getting him back in to have a proper look at him.”
