JOHN Egan has extended his loan spell at Southend United from Sunderland until the end of the season.
Egan has impressed at the heart of the back four during his initial month with the Shrimpers.
And boss Phil Brown is delighted to be keeping the centre-back at Roots Hall.
“John has done really well during his time with us so far and I’m very happy he’s going to be staying for longer,” said the Blues boss.
“He reads the game superbly well and his partnership with Jakub Sokolik has helped the team get three clean sheets in a row so hopefully we can keep that going.”
Egan made six appearances during his first month with the Shrimpers and scored a stunning 35 yard shot away at Scunthorpe United.
