A STRONG Southend United side held a West Ham United team that included five of its returning stars to a 1-1 draw today.
Blues made just one change to the starting line-up that lined up at Mansfield Town last weekend for the behind-closed-doors friendly with Kevan Hurst coming in for David Worrall who opted to rest a slight groin problem.
West Ham fielded their England international striker Andy Carroll in their starting line up, as well as Matt Jarvis, Joey O’Brien, Kevin Nolan and Ricardo Vaz Te.
The Shrimpers went ahead when a Myles Weston cross worked its way in to the back of the net, with Barry Corr also claiming the final touch.
However, the Hammers hit back with Jarvis on target to ensure the game ended all square.
