ADAM Barrett has revealed winning a third promotion with Southend United would be the perfect conclusion to his career.
As was first revealed by Echosport, the 35-year-old centre back has now completed a switch back to the Shrimpers until the end of the season.
And Barrett, who goes straight in to the squad for tomorrow’s trip to Oxford United, already has his sights set on getting Blues back in to the League One.
“Getting promotion with Southend would be the perfect end to my career,” said Barrett, who made 289 appearances during his initial six year spell with the club.
“I’m not thinking beyond the end of the season at the moment and getting promotion would just be fantastic.
“We’re in a good position to challenge and I’m coming back to help any way the manager wants.
“We’re not getting ahead of ourselves and getting carried but I can’t wait to get started again.”
Barrett, who still lives in Benfleet, won two promotions with Blues during his previous spell with the club he supported as a boy.
