SOUTHEND United midfielder Michael Timlin is out to make his 150th appearance for the club one to remember against Cheltenham Town tonight.

The struggling Robins visit Roots Hall sitting just above League Two’s relegation zone.

And Timlin is keen to take full advantage as Blues bid to finally impress at home.

“We know the home form hasn’t been good enough and that the fans aren’t happy with it so we want to put it right, starting with tonight,” said the 29-year-old midfielder.

“We don’t want to think about it too much and make too much of it but we know we haven’t scored enough goals at Roots Hall lately.

“We want to start playing like we are away from home and it would be great to get a couple if goals tonight, especially with it being my 150th game for the club.”

Timlin initially joined Blues on loan in September 2010 before rejoining the following season in a stint which was made in to a permanent move at the start of 2012.

And the former Fulham trainee insisted he was proud to be reaching another milestone at Roots Hall.

“I genuinely enjoy playing for this football club and I’m very proud to be making my 150th appearance,” said Timlin.

“There have been a few ups and downs for me during my time here. I’ve had a couple of injuries and been sent to prison but the fans have been good to me.

“I know they get frustrated with me at times but I would like to think I have a good relationship with them.

“And hopefully we can all put in a good performance tonight to get the right result.

Fifth placed Blues head in to the game having lost just one of their last 15 outings.

But Timlin is taking nothing for granted against an out of form Cheltenham.

“We have to make sure we apply ourselves correctly,” stressed the midfielder.

“We’ve always had good games with Cheltenham and they’ve done quite well against us at Roots Hall in the last couple of years.

“But we’re full of confidence this time and want to keep our good run going.”
