BEN Coker believes Southend United’s play-off final is a reward for all the hard work that has put into helping the Shrimpers shine this season.

Coker produced another impressive display in Thursday night’s 3-1 win against Stevenage which set up this Saturday’s clash with Wycombe Wanderers at Wembley.

And the left-back is now desperate to see off the Chairboys to secure promotion.

“We’ve all worked so hard to get to this point but we need one more push to finish off the job now,” said Coker.

“Everyone has put so much in for us to get this far and getting to Wembley is a reward for that.

“But we’re obviously aware we need to win at the weekend and we will be making sure we prepare the best way possible.”

Blues players’ will be back in training tomorrow.

However, Coker is already struggling to contain his excitement at getting to play at Wembley for the first time.

“It’s an exciting time and I cannot wait to play at Wembley,” said the defender.

“I’ve been there a few times to watch games but I’ve never played there so it’s going to be great.

“But we’re going there to win the game not to enjoy a nice occasion.”

The Shrimpers will be fired up to come out on top after missing out on automatic promotion on the final day of the season at Morecambe.

Last season they were beaten by Burton Albion in the play-off semi-final.

And Coker is keen to avoid more heartbreak.

“It was not nice going through that disappointment but we’ve learnt from it and it’s made us tighter as a group too,” said the left-back.

“But it’s all come down to this one game now and we want to go and make it a day to remember.”
