ANTHONY Wordsworth has completed a switch to Southend United.
As was first revealed in Echosport, the attacking midfielder has signed a two year deal with the Shrimpers.
And the 26-year-old is delighted to have completed a move to Roots Hall following his release from Ipswich Town.
“I've been talking to the club for probably three weeks and I’m really excited that we’ve finally got the deal down,” said Wordsworth.
“I met with Phil Brown about three weeks back and I decided straight away that I wanted to play for him.
“I spoke to some of the boys I already know here and they all spoke really highly of the club so I’m happy to be here.”
Wordsworth, whose family are also Shrimpers fans, came through the ranks at local rivals Colchester United and scored 35 goals in 199 games with the U’s.
He has also spent time on loan with Rotherham United and Crawley Town, where the midfielder ended last season.
