SOUTHEND United manager Phil Brown is confident of signing another attacker in time for him to figure against Coventry City this weekend.

Brown is currently in talks with a Premier League club about the youngster.

And he hopes to have the loan deal completed in the next few days.

“I’m fairly confident of bringing someone in before the Coventry game,” said Brown.

“He’s an under 21 league player who can play in a variety of attacking positions and I do feel he would do a good job for us.

“He can play wide right, wide left or through the middle so he would increase our options going forward and would definitely be a good signing so hopefully we can get the deal done.”

Brown remains keen to bolster his attacking options after seeing his side score 33 times in 26 league outings this term.

And the Shrimpers chief is still keeping an eye on Norwich City striker Jamar Lamar who remains on trial at Roots Hall.

“Jamar was back in with us yesterday and we will make a decision by the end on him by the end of the week,” said Brown.

“I went to watch him for Norwich City’s under 21 team against the Nike Academy on Monday and he scored one and made the other in a good display.

“But I want to see him training with our first team before I decide whether or not to sign him on loan.”

Loza spent time on loan with Blues in 2014, scoring once in seven appearances.

The 21-year-old is also attracting interest from Port Vale.
