SOUTHEND United manager Phil Brown insists he is not resigned to losing Daniel Bentley at the end of the season.
The Shrimpers shot-stopper is out of contract at the end of the current campaign and has been heavily linked with a move away from Roots Hall.
But Brown is not certain Bentley will leave and revealed he would soon be making the custodian a final offer.
“I’m not resigned to losing him,” said Brown.
“The lines of communication have been open all season but we’re no further forward now than we were right at the start of the season.
“We will put in a final offer before the end of the season to see if we can win him over but that’s where it is with Daniel at the moment.”
Bentley, who came through the youth system at the club, is Blues only ever present this season.
The Shrimpers opted to reject an offer of £1.25million from Queens Park Rangers for the 22-year-old back in August.
