SOUTHEND United left-back Ben Coker believes Blues’ bubble has burst during their disappointing end to the season.

The Shrimpers have slumped to 13th in the League One table after winning just three of their last 14 outings.

And Coker remains disappointed by the loss of form.

“We’re all trying our hardest but it’s just not going our way and it’s really frustrating,” said Coker.

“Since I’ve been here we’ve always been fighting for something at this stage so it’s hard when we’re not.

“It’s a strange feeling and our season is ending like a lead balloon.

“Something seems to have popped but we will keep on trying our hardest and try to finish as high up as we can.”

Blues’ latest defeat came at home to Oldham Athletic on Tuesday night as Curtis Main’s second-half strike secured all three points for the Latics.

The setback was tough for Coker to take but he is now keen to bounce back at table-topping Wigan Athletic this weekend.

“Tuesday was a frustrating evening and we had a lot of chances in the first half.

“They caught us on the counter attack and it cost us the game.

“But we’re focused on Saturday now and we will be right up for the game.

“It’s a great stadium and they’re going for promotion so there should be a good atmosphere.

“But we will have a few fans going up there and we want to give them something to shout about.”
