SOUTHEND United manager Phil Brown will meet with a trio of transfer targets today.

The Shrimpers boss is keeping the identity of the players under wraps.

But he has been encouraged by the reaction of those he is keen to hold talks with.

“It’s been very positive so far and we’ve had a really good response from players which bodes well for the summer ahead,” said Brown.

“I’m meeting with three players today and will be making our plans clear for next season.

“We have identified a list of targets and we will be working hard to bring them to the football club.

“We also want as many as possible here before we report back in for the start of pre-season training at the start of July.”

Brown is keen to strengthen his squad in all areas and looks certain to be without both Daniel Bentley and Jack Payne.

David Worrall also faces an uncertain future at Roots Hall while the contracts of Myles Weston, Kevan Hurst and Noel Hunt all expire at the end of the season.

Luke Prosser and Cian Bolger are also out of contract this summer and seem certain to leave.
