MARC-ANTOINE Fortune is expected to feature on trial for Southend United’s under 21 team at Peterborough United this afternoon.

The 35-year-old former West Bromwich Albion and Celtic striker trained with Blues for the first time yesterday.

And Echosport understands he could now feature against the Posh.

Fortune - who cost Celtic £3.8million back in 2009 - lined up for Coventry City in League One last season and is now attempting to earn himself a contract with Blues.

However, Fortune will not be joined in the starting line-up by Michael Timlin or Anthony Wordsworth against Peterborough.

Timlin has gone for another scan on a hamstring injury while Wordsworth has picked up a neck problem.

And Blues boss Phil Brown confirmed neither of them would be involved in today’s clash.

“Woody has a neck problem which is like a whiplash injury,” said Brown.

“There’s been no accident and could have been done in his sleep.

“Michael has also been complaining of some tightness in a different area on the same leg so he’s gone for another scan so we can find out a bit more on what’s happening.”

Wordsworth and Timlin have yet to feature this season but had been hoping to figure against the Posh at some stage.

However, Luke O’Neill, Jermaine McGlashan, Stephen McLaughlin and Jack Bridge will all feature as they bid to work their way back in to first team contention.

Today’s game kicks off at 2pm.
