MARC-ANTOINE Fortune could still be heading to Southend United.

Shrimpers boss Phil Brown suggested after Saturday’s win against Millwall that the French forward had priced himself out of a switch to Roots Hall.

But Fortune is now back with Blues and is expected to line up for the under-21s at Dagenham & Redbridge this afternoon.

“We had a few talks with Marc on Friday but we only had until 12 noon to sign him in time for Saturday’s game, so everything was just really crammed,” explained Brown.

“In the end I told Marc he should head back to France for the weekend and then come back in and play for the under-21s at Dagenham.

“That’s exactly what he’s done and we’ll be keeping a close eye on him in in the match today.”

Fortune was with Coventry City last season and has previously played for West Bromwich Albion and Celtic.

And Brown has been impressed by the 35-year-old since bringing him to Blues on trial.

“Marc has worked well in training and he’s integrated into the group well too,” said Brown.

“He trained with us all last week and also played at Peterborough in the under-21 game last week.

“He should play against Dagenham and then we’ll talk again after that and see where that takes us.”
