SOUTHEND United striker Nile Ranger is rated 50/50 for tomorrow’s clash at MK Dons after suffering an ankle injury.

Ranger picked up the problem during the 1-1 draw with Bradford City on Tuesday night.

And Blues boss Phil Brown is not sure if the forward will be fit to line up at Stadium:mk.

“Nile suffered a knock against Bradford after about five minutes and said he felt something in his ankle,” said the Shrimpers chief.

“He was able to get through it on the night but he was in the treatment room yesterday and if he doesn’t train today he won’t play tomorrow.

“He’s probably 50/50 at the moment.”

But, even if Ranger is passed fit, Brown may still not opt to start the striker who has played back to back games for the first time in almost two years already this week.

“A third game in seven days for Nile is probably too much to ask,” said Brown.

“We had 45 minutes at Rochdale which was probably too much, so was 77 against Chesterfield and 88 against Bradford.

“He’s ahead of the game but that’s going to bring a fatigue factor and a drop off at some stage.

“I hope it doesn’t come in Saturday. I hope it’s in a training session next Tuesday.”

Blues are still without Michael Timlin (hamstring) and the midfielder will visit a specialist today for an update.
