IN-FORM youngster Emile Acquah celebrated being awarded a scholarship at Southend United by bagging a brace in the Shrimpers’ 4-2 win at Cambridge United.
Acquah’s double helped Blues draw back level after going 2-0 down before Zak Pianim and Eren Kinali completed the scoring to leave Southend’s youth coach Dave Huzzey delighted.
“Emile has only been in the team a month or so now and he must already have seven or eight goals so he’s been doing well and deserves the scholarship he’s given,” said Huzzey.
“He needs to keep working hard but this was another pleasing win.
“I don’t think we deserved to be 2-0 down at half-time but we played superbly in the second half to get the win.”
The victory made it nine games unbeaten for Blues and saw them move up to second in the league table.
