SOUTHEND United manager Phil Brown will meet Anton Ferdinand twice in three days in a bid to keep the defender at the club.
The Shrimpers chief will holds talks with the centre-back tomorrow and on Sunday.
But the Blues boss knows other clubs will now be monitoring Ferdinand’s future.
“After the season Anton has just had I think we’re in a precarious position with regards to his future,” said Brown.
“He’s going to be an attractive proposition on a free transfer but I’m meeting with him twice for talks and we’ll certainly be doing everything within our power to keep him here.
“Anton is an important player and I think securing his signature would lead to others committing their futures as well, most notably Adam Thompson.”
