SOUTHEND United manager Phil Brown hopes to complete a double signing for the Shrimpers this week.
Brown is in talks with a centre-back and a midfielder.
And the Blues boss is pushing to have them both at Roots Hall before the weekend.
“I’m hoping to get a couple of deals done this week,” confirmed Brown.
“One is a centre-back and the other is a midfielder who can play right wing so they’re in the positions we need.
“I think they would both be able to improve us.”
The Shrimpers have yet to make a new signing this summer and have lost centre-back Adam Thompson to Bury and hard-working midfielder Will Atkinson, who turned down a new deal to join Mansfield Town.
