SOUTHEND United midfielder Anthony Wordsworth is nearing a return from his hamstring injury.
The 28-year-old - who has been out since April - has resumed running.
And he hopes to be back in action in two weeks time.
“Hopefully I’ll have a good week this week and next and then I’ll be ready for an under-23 game,” said Wordsworth.
“The plan is to start working with the football again next week but it’s up to the physio and the fitness coach.
“After a long-term injury you risk getting niggles elsewhere and I had a bit of a setback last week after trying to push too hard.
“But my hamstring is feeling as good as the other one and I don’t think I’m too far away, which is obviously good news.”
