SOUTHEND United manager Phil Brown is keen on signing former Gillingham midfielder Josh Wright.
The 27-year-old is available on a free transfer after being released by the Gills.
And Brown would be interested in bringing him to Roots Hall.
“I’m very interested in Josh,” said Brown.
“He got something like 14 goals last season and goalscoring midfielders are a rarity in any league.
“We have Michael Kightly and Ryan Leonard who have both scored twice already this season but I do think we’re short in midfield and Josh would definitely strengthen our squad.”
Brown has yet to speak to directly to the midfielder but is believed to have spoken to his representatives.
