FORMER England international Kieran Richardson is training with Southend United, Echosport understands.

The 32-year-old - who scored twice in eight games for his country - is currently without a club.

And the ex Manchester United man is believed to be attempting to impress Blues boss Phil Brown.

Richardson - who can play at left-back or on the left hand side of midfield - was originally with West Ham United as a youngster before making the move to Old Trafford in 2002.

He made 42 Premier League appearances for the Red Devils before joining Sunderland in 2007.

Richardson has also lined up for Fulham, Aston Villa and Cardiff City and, due to being a free agent, he can still sign after the transfer window closes.
