SOUTHEND United defender Rob Kiernan could be set for a second knee operation.
The centre-back underwent surgery earlier this month.
But Blues boss Phil Brown has now revealed Kiernan will visit a specialist today to see if another operation is required.
“Rob will be seeing the specialist and such has been the success of the operation on his other knee that we want a second operation to be the line we go down,” said Brown.
“We will see what the specialist has to say but Rob is in a much better place and he’s feeling very positive.
“He had been having excruciating pain in both knees, which is quite unusual, but while another operation could be seen as a negative long term we see this as a positive.
“Fingers crossed we can still see him back in action in five or six weeks.”
Kiernan joined the Shrimpers from Rangers in the summer but made just two appearances before being forced onto the sidelines.
