SOUTHEND United manager Phil Brown hopes to select an unchanged starting line-up at Yeovil Town tomorrow.

The Shrimpers head to Huish Park in the first round of the FA Cup.

And Brown is keen to stay with the same 11 who won 1-0 at Walsall last weekend.

“If I can put the same team out I will and that shows how seriously I’m taking the competition,” said the Shrimpers chief.

“I’ve always thought cup games are an opportunity to have a look at the squad and there will be one or two on the bench at the moment feeling harshly done by at the moment.

“They will be wanting to put that right and the likes of Stephen McLaughlin and Nile Ranger spring to mind where that’s concerned.

“There are opportunities to have a look at one or two but I’ll only be doing that this weekend if there’s an injury.”

At present, Shrimpers midfielder Anthony Wordsworth remains the only real injury concern.

Wordsworth picked up a calf problem during the Walsall victory.

And Brown is unsure whether or the 28-year-old will be available.

“Anthony is 50/50 at the moment,” said Brown.

“He complained about a calf problem about five minutes in at Walsall but was able to get through it.

“I’m hoping he will be able to step up today in training and be available because he’s one of our most creative and dangerous players so I want him out there if we can.”

Wordsworth’s presence would boost the Shrimpers for what Brown believes will be a tricky test against Yeovil.

Darren Way’s side are currently 17th in the League Two table.

But Brown is certain the Gloves will be tough to beat.

“It’s a difficult venue and they are a hard working team,” said Brown.

They have a sprinkling of quality but they’re down two players because of suspensions.

“I think that might affect their system but it won’t affect their mentality.

“We will be favourites because we’re in a higher league but we have to be able to deal with that.

“However, we have to make sure we apply ourselves both with and without the ball if we’re to get through.

“Yeovil are a resilient side but we’re going there in a good place having won back to back games and we want to keep that going.”
