SOUTHEND United have signed midfielder Sam Mantom on loan from Scunthorpe United until the end of the season.
The 25-year-old, who started his career at West Bromwich Albion, had made 12 appearances for the Iron this term before being sidelined by a hernia problem.
Mantom has therefore not figured since October but will be eager to impress while with the Shrimpers.
Mantom had short loan spells with Tranmere and Oldham at the start of his career before joining Walsall in 2013.
The midfielder made more than 100 appearances for the Saddlers before joining Scunthorpe in 2016.
