SOUTHEND United manager Chris Powell does not expect Rob Kiernan to play again this season.
The centre-back – who joined Blues from Rangers in the summer – has played just twice this term after undergoing surgery on both knees.
And Powell believes Kiernan will not be back in contention until next season.
“It’s going to be a long process with Rob,” said Powell.
“He’s a few setbacks and it’s unlikely we will see him this season.”
Kiernan has not featured for the Shrimpers since coming on a first half substitute in a 5-0 defeat at Rotherham United in August.
