THEO Robinson ended four months of frustration by scoring in Southend United’s 4-0 win against Gillingham at Roots Hall yesterday.

The striker had made just five substitute appearances since his last League start against Portsmouth in November.

And Robinson - who came close to leaving the club on loan in January - was delighted to come back with a bang for Blues.

“It was great to get the goal because I haven’t been playing and it was great to get the win too,” said Robinson.

“It’s been frustrating for me because, just like everyone else, I want to play.

“But you have to keep on working hard and hope that your chance will come.

“I got it here and would like to think I took it but I have to keep going.”

Robinson’s start was his first since the appointment of Chris Powell as manager at the end of January.

And the 29-year-old is enjoying playing for the Shrimpers boss.

“He’s been speaking to me a lot since the very first day he came in,” said Robinson.

“I knew I would get my chance eventually because that’s what he said to me.

“I would like to think I repaid him but I want to keep on doing it now.

“I want to finish the season strongly both individually and as a team as well.”

Robinson’s next chance to impress will come at Blackburn Rovers.

And the striker would love another opportunity to show off another celebration.

“The one against Gillingham was because my little one likes the little dance from the French Montana Unforgettable video,” explained Robinson.

“I did it for him and it would be great to more goals and wins to celebrate in the next few games.”
