BLUES boss Paul Sturrock declared himself satisfied by his side’s 5-0 victory at Needham Market.

The Scotsman used the friendly to boost the fitness of several squad players.

And he also took a look at three trialists – left-back Andre Blackman and striking duo Vincent Pericard and Wilko Risser.

“I thought it was definitely a worthwhile exercise and it was a game we got plenty from,” said Sturrock.

“There were people in our team who needed another game like Merrick James-Lewis and Alex Woodyard and we were also able to have a look at some more trialists.

“I don’t think Pericard has looked after himself in terms of fitness but it’s hard to judge players after just one game.

“I’m glad we had this game though and I’m satisfied with how it went.”

Sturrock also confirmed the club remain in transfer talks with Ryan Leonard and Jean Paul Kalala.

But, when asked if Matt Paterson would figure again in the first team after playing for nine minutes against Needham, Sturrock was not giving much away.

“You will just have to wait and see,” said the Scotsman.

“However there is a conversation between myself and Matt which needs to take place.”
