SOUTHEND United’s Bilel Mohsni is ready to face Macclesfield Town tomorrow - whatever position he is picked in.

Mohsni has played in defence, midfield and up front for Blues already this season.

But being moved around the pitch is nothing new for the Frenchman.

And he even spent close to two seasons as a goalkeeper during his youth.

“I’m happy to play anywhere for Southend and that includes being in goal as I’ve played there before too,” said Mohsni, 24.

“When I was about 14 or 15 I spent a season and a half playing in goal.

“I went there midway through one of our matches after our goalkeeper hurt his shoulder and we didn’t have a sub keeper but I did well and the manager kept me in for quite a long time.

“I did enjoy it but I was a crazy goalkeeper because I would always dribble the ball out of my area.

“I did set up a few goals by doing that and I would be happy to play there for Southend.

“But I don’t think I would try running out with the ball at this level.”

Mohsni’s latest role saw him play as a left winger at Barnet on Tuesday night.

And he enjoyed figuring on the flank as Blues ran out comfortable 3-0 winners at Underhill.

“I quite liked playing there and it was good to help the team get another good result,” said Mohsni.

“We kept a clean sheet and scored three goals so we did well at both ends which was pleasing.”

Mohsni also shone in both penalty areas against the Bees and was delighted to work his way on the score-sheet with a controversial effort in the first half.

The strike was his fifth goal of the season and also matched his tally from last term.

But Mohsni, who netted twice against the Silkmen back in January, is keen to keep on hitting the back of the net.

“It was good to score on Tuesday and hopefully I can get more to help the team,” said Mohsni.

“It would be nice to get another one at Macclesfield but it will be hard for us there.”
