WE’VE all been disappointed by our recent run of results but we’re refusing to let each other get really down about it.

We’re going into Christmas in a better position than most of us would ever have dreamed of.

And we will get out of this bad run we’re on.

Every team goes through a little sticky patch and that’s what we’re experiencing right now.

But I think the break between games has come at a good time and I’m sure it’s helped us to improve on things both on and off the pitch.

We’ve been able to work on things on the training ground and we’ve also had our Christmas party which has done wonders for our team spirit.

We had a fantastic and very entertaining night out in Brighton and the fancy dress theme proved to be extremely popular.

I went as Father Christmas and had Michael Timlin as one of my elves.

Chris Barker went as a Christmas tree, which was great, but not all of the costumes were of such a high standard, as Luke Prosser and Harry Crawford both decided to go as cockroaches.

I have to admit it’s the first time I’ve ever seen someone go to a fancy dress-themed Christmas party as a cockroach and I did sit next to them for a couple of hours without knowing what they were actually meant to be!

It was all great fun though and there was no trouble either, so we all had a good laugh.

It’s helped us bond closer together and having a such a good spirit is hugely important in football.

Hopefully, that can stand us in good stead during the Christmas period. It’s a busy and important time of year for us with a lot of games in a short period of time.

That means we will be training on Christmas Day, but that’s not something you will find me moaning about.

We’re lucky to play football for a living and plenty of other professions —including doctors, nurses and policeman — will also be working.

We need to prepare correctly for the game at Aldershot on Boxing Day and we want to give our fans some Christmas cheer by grabbing a positive result there.

Unfortunately, we go in to the match on the back of a 1-0 defeat to Bradford City at Roots Hall. That game proved that when things aren’t going your way they really aren’t going your way because it seemed to have 0-0 written all over it.

However, we then conceded a sloppy team goal right at the end and now it’s all about bouncing back.

Aldershot have had some good results this season but have been a bit inconsistent and that’s why they’re not higher at the table.

It will be a real test for us but we’re looking forward to it and want to get ourselves and our season going again.
